“As an ultra runner, I am well aware of how important the right shoe is,” explains Fred Claes, DYNAFIT Commercial Manager Trail Running. “It’s not just a companion. The shoe plays a role in how long and efficiently you can run.” Accordingly, the goal in developing the Ultra 100 V3 was clear: To create a shoe that supports and protects over many hours and kilometers, without feeling heavy or sluggish – and ideally even returns energy. After numerous prototypes and thousands of test kilometers with the product team and athletes, Fred is convinced: “This is exactly what we achieved.”

The ultimate test: The Transalpine Run.

The Ultra 100 V3 demonstrated its practicality on Fred’s feet during the DYNAFIT Transalpine Run. Seven days, 243 kilometers, and 15,000 meters elevation gain across the Alps. All kinds of terrain were covered, in changing conditions.

“In the TAR, you have it all: Flowing trails, technical sections, wet and steep parts. Every day is different. That’s exactly why you need a shoe that works reliably in all conditions,” Claes says. And he adds with a wink: “Of course, I also wanted to pick up the pace and not be the last to cross the finish line.”

Maximum cushioning meets genuine energy return

The centerpiece of the Ultra 100 V3 is the new midsole with supercritical foam. It is approximately 20% lighter than classic EVA soles, while also providing significantly higher energy return.

This ensures a dynamic, responsive running feel even when your legs are already tired. It’s backed up by the pronounced rocker geometry that provides support through smooth and efficient rolling. For extra comfort, the breathable knit upper keeps your feet dry and comfortable even on long distances. The classic lacing also lets you customize the fit and keeps your feet secure without any pressure points.

Stability and grip in challenging terrain

Stability and protection are crucial, especially in challenging terrain. Integrated elements in the midsole stabilize the foot medially and laterally, while the 6-mm-Drop helps to achieve a natural running feel.

“When you get tired, the risk of rolling an ankle increases. The shoe needs to be stable without restricting you,” explains Fred. “And above all, you have to be able to rely on the grip – especially downhill or in difficult conditions. Grip is not a bonus, but a must.”

For this, the Ultra 100 V3 relies on the proven VIBRAM® Megagrip outsole with traction lugs. The 4-mm-Stollenprofil provides a balanced combination of traction and running efficiency for a secure fit on various surfaces.
