You are at the starting line, have great training behind you, and can feel the motivation all the way down to your toes. AC/DC is blaring from the speakers and off you go! An ultra can be really long.... Whether 50 or 170 kilometers, five or 35 hours, at some point, everybody hits the wall. Now you have to mentally push or outfox your mind. This is what I do:
• This is what many other runners also do, so I am not alone here.
• I think about something positive; I enjoy the great weather, the course, etc.
• I set small goals for myself along the way: The next aid station is only just 5 kilometers away.... It’s only another 200 meters to the top....
