365 Days of Trail Running – Why Trail Running is a year-round sport for us

The mountain is calling – and it does so 365 days a year. For a long time, winter was clearly reserved for ski tours, while Trail Running was considered a typical summer sport. But the climate is changing – and the conditions for many classic mountain sports are also shifting. The touring season is getting shorter – and with it, the time window for ski tourers.

As a brand that is deeply rooted in the community, ski touring remains a central focus for us. But it’s our goal to make it possible to achieve sporting excellence on the mountain at any time of year – even if the snow is slow to arrive. That’s why Trail Running is more than just a summer trend for us. It’s a decisive expansion of our portfolio – a performance-oriented mountain sport that’s accessible all year round and opens up new possibilities for athletes.

Why we’re making Trail Running our 365-Tage-Fokus

The mountain is always there. The snow, however, isn’t. The climatic changes of recent years have made it clear that you can no longer rely on stable, snow-rich winters.  The decline in the number of days with snow in many regions forces us - as athletes, as a brand and as a community - to rethink. Instead of waiting for ideal conditions, we rely on what is always available - the trails. Kilometer after kilometer of almost endless terrain ranging from easy to challenging. What was often only accessible with touring skis in winter is now snow-free and suitable for running in many places.

For us, this means that Trail Running is not just an alternative to ski touring, but a powerful addition. People who used to wait for the first snowflakes to fall now simply put on their running shoes – and keep moving. Trail Running is becoming a year-round sport for mountain sports enthusiasts and for us as a brand – for good reason.

Trail Running knows no off-season

Unlike many other mountain sports, Trail Running does not depend on external conditions. It doesn’t need any infrastructure, no lift, no snow, no waiting time – just you, your legs, some stamina and reliable equipment.

What makes Trail Running so versatile:

  • Direct access: The trail often starts right on your doorstep.
  • Minimal barriers to entry: Lace up your shoes, step outside, start running.
  • Maximum flexibility: Short and snappy or long and challenging, no matter the weather – you decide.
  • Year-round benefits: Effective training for strength, endurance and focus – even in the cold.

For our community of ambitious ski tourers in particular, this means that, even if the snow is slow to arrive, moving in the mountains remains intense, challenging, fulfilling.

Trail Running 365: Already a reality

Our vision is not just a theory – it’s already a reality. In a community survey with around 700 participants, 54% said that they go on both ski tours and trails in the winter. The results are even clearer when asked about their preferred terrain: Over 78% prefer to run on trails rather than on asphalt.

There’s also no doubt about the equipment: Functionality, warmth and weather protection come first, followed by good grip on icy or muddy trails. This feedback was crucial in the development of our new collection.
