A waffle-like texture on the inner face not only has great ability to insulate, it also makes the fabric lighter, more stretchable and packable. It wicks away moisture from the skin that then evaporates from the smooth outer face. The close-fitting hood and thumb loops are another plus when it comes to comfort.
