Born on Aug. 21, 1980, Klaus lives with his wife, Miriam, and their three daughters in Weissenbach near Haus im Ennstal. He works as a chief administrator for the “market town” of Haus im Ennstal. Klaus was a member of the Austrian National Team in ski mountaineering. For the last several years, he has seen success as an extreme runner. Among other things, he won the Grossglockner Ultra-Trail in 2015 alongside Markus Amon. In October 2016 and June 2017, he represented Austria at the Trail World Championships. In July 2017 he celebrated his second victory at the Grossglockner Ultra-Trail.
His most well-known individual project was Crossing Styria in June 2016. For that, he crossed straight through the region of Styria to the summit of Dachstein. For the 230 kilometers with 10,000 meters of climbing (143k / 32,808 ft), he took 35 hours.
