April 2012 will soon be upon us – about 4,000 sportspeople will line up at the start of the Patrouille des Glacier
(PDG) race from Zermatt to Verbier. The Patrouille des Glaciers is the most famous ski race in the world.
As the main sponsor of this ski touring competition, DYNAFIT will be nominating ten sportspeople internationally to start the race. And so the ski equipment supplier will be appointing the DYNAFIT 2012 PDG team from September onwards.
The participants will be offered professional support in the lead-up to the race and will undergo a training plan.
In the approaching winter season, DYNAFIT and the Hindelanger mountain guide service will be organising ski mountaineering camps lasting several days for skiers from around the world. Together with their retail partners and mountain guide services in each country, DYNAFIT will be looking for 15 participants. Successful applicants will be trained in camps over several days for the Patrouille des Glaciers ski competition. Training will be carried out by professional mountain guides with competition experience.
All ambitious ski racers aged 18 years and over from any country can apply, if they can demonstrate they have taken part in competitive ski mountaineering over the last few years. As part of a three-member team, the successful candidates will be ambitious and passionate for one of the most important Alpine competitions.
Fifteen participants will be chosen from among all applicants.
The following support will be available to the participants to ensure they are able to start the Patrouille des Glaciers when training finishes.
• Support by certifi ed mountain guides and ski guides with competition experience
• Performance analysis at select PDG partner centres
• Three seminars on the topics: safety in Alpine terrain, training in avalanche transceivers, use of crampons/
ice picks, preparing for competition in high-altitude terrain, descending with a rope, crossing glaciers and
use of ropes on glaciers, preparatory training for high altitudes
• Support will continue through the winter season until the PDG 2012 competition
• Five days of training at the Pizzini hut in the Ortler mountains
• Avalanche emergency equipment supplied by Pieps for the 2012 season
• Entry fee for the Patrouille des Glaciers 2012
The PDG online shop will supply appropriate equipment for training and competition from their exclusive DYNAFIT PDG ski mountaineering collection.
Personal expenses such as travel or accommodation/meals outside the time specified are not included in the programme. The successful participants will be responsible for obtaining the appropriate ski mountaineering equipment themselves.
