Marc Pinsach has regained the sensations and the rhythm in the best scenario, the Vertical Arinsal of Font Blanca; the first race of the World Cup.
The Catalan skier has been fighting with the best along the rise. In fact, except the winner Kilian Jornet, the differences between athletes have been minimums. Finally, the tenth.
With this result Marc has restored the confidence, “I’m very happy because I returned to find my way”, said at the end of the race. The Vertical Arinsal was characterized by a constant slope from the departure to the arrival at the Port Negre, for a total of 950 meters of height difference. The spectators have been able to follow the race thanks the chairlifts and the cableway of the ski resort, because the whole race took place at Arinsal Ski Resort.
Marc Pinsach leaves Andorra with a handful of points for the World Cup of Ski Mountaineering. The Catalan repeated the good performance of the Saturday in the individual race of Sunday.
However, the race was exciting. The best specialists of the discipline have proved the great equality again, and among them Marc Pinsach. The skiers have challenged five summits, with 1721 meters of height difference. In the final section, Marc stayed behind in a second group and he couldn’t move from the fourteenth position. In Sub23 category he came within a step of the podium.
Pinsach has been very regular throughout the weekend but is aware that it may be improve, “I must train hard to be ahead” argued the Catalan. The next meeting will be the European Championships. Marc warns, “the important is not how starts, is how finishes”.
